Roberta Rogow
Chandler's Tales captures
the 'spirit' of the novels written about John Grimes. If you read the books you
will love the song! Thanks Roberta.
The tune is an old one, called "The Chandler's Wife", which was later taken over
and made into a novelty song called "The Thing". I used it because it seemed to
fit... at that time (late '60's, early '70's) very few SF heroes had a real sex
life. A few chaste kisses, a discreet liaison, or a reference to a previous romance,
and Captain Whoha would be off saving the Galaxy, while his female companion of
the moment hovered behind him. One of the reasons I enjoyed the Grimes books was
that there were females in them who were more than set decoration...

Age of Miracles is from his Earth Rising album.
This is a song about many things - mostly about dreamers. I got the chorus from
a pulpy sci-fi novel by A. Bertram Chandler, the title from a sci-fi novel by John
Brunner. The first verse is about the 3rd World seeing few of the C21st wonders,
the 2nd verse is about old love, and the 3rd about non-standard, "boheme"-type people.
